Renato Sanches is the Young Bright Spark for Portugal

He may be eighteen, and still not yet known to the world, but with the time he's been on the pitch in these Euros, he's already had a great impact and has looked like the most exciting attacking player that Portugal have. Sorry Cristiano...

In what has to be the most boring and stale match of the Euros so far, it was Renato Sanches who came on and gave some life to Portugal. Whilst everyone else wanted to play a new game called sideways football, Renato was always trying to push forward every time he had the ball. Whether he lost the ball or not, his intention is what gave Portgual anuy threat.

And when the pivotal time came, it was Renato Sanches who was very critical in the goal. It was him who got the ball in the middle of pitch, drew the Croatian defenders, which gave Nani some space to receive the ball from him and the rest is now history. Without Sanches's run, Portugal don't get that goal.

The kid has to start now. Portugal's performance in this game was a joke with nobody offering anything exciting at all. Sanches gives them a midfielder who can break into the danger area and take opposing defenders out of position. He can be a player that can actually help Portugal win their first game in ninety minutes at these Euros. These are the kinds of dudes that I like because they have no fear and they're always looking to try and make things happen.

Portugal can't keep expecting to just coast games and hit teams with the sucker punch. Eventually, when a team goes at them or if they are a goal down early in the game, then they'll need to take the initiative and that's where Renato will be very useful. HH
