If Poland are more Clinical, They Can Suprise People
People should now be convinced with what Poland have brought to these Euros. After getting a very hard fought win against a Norther Irish side that defended with every man woman and child, they took on Germany and despite not having a lot of the ball, they had the best chances to win the game.
What makes Poland really dangerous is the fact that they have one of the best all-round players in the competition, but he is surrounded by really good players who know how to counter and play the right attacking passes when they have the ball.
They've got a particular strategy, and everyone knows their role. You see teams where you have no clue what they're doing when they have the ball and even the players are confused as to who to pass to and what runs to make. These Polish team don't have that problem. They know how to break down teams who sit back and are defensive and they can also counter-attack stronger teams who have the bulk of the ball.
A really important player for Poland has been Krychowiak in the middle. The Sevilla man has been that stick
in the middle of the pitch who tries to win those balls but is also the catalyst of the counters that Poland has. He's not only big and strong, therefore hard to get the ball off of.
The guy is really good on the ball and playing for the skillful Sevilla under Emery, he brings that class to Poland's midfield as well as the engine.
Milik is another player who has been very impressive and has been a great Robin to Lewandowski's Batman. He's the one that got the winner against Northern Ireland, but he should have also gotten his second against Northern Ireland. If only he just took his time, focused and put his foot through the ball that came across to him, he could have put it past Neuer.
What could prevent Poland from doing something special in this tournament is by failing to take their chances. This team will create opportunities but there's not point in putting yourselves in great positions if you're not going to make them count. If I was their coach, I would have screamed at them and tore my lungs after screaming, because of how they weren't able to take excellent opportunities to beat Germany.
You don't get many second second chances in big-boy football. HH
