You see kids, this is what it means to represent your nation. To step up to the plate, stick your chest out and truly deliver for your country against all odds. Bale knew what was required of him and understood he'd have to raise his game based on the skill level of his team, and he's done so tremendously.
Three games, three goals. All three being very good ones. Two free-kicks, and a nice finesse finish from a great pass from Ramsey. Bale has arrived on the international stage, and you can feel his presence permeating throughout the team. With him doing what he can with every opportunity given to him, it gives the other Welsh players the belief that they can do something in this tournament.
I'm just amazed as to what Bale has done. If he had just scored a G and played pretty well based on his circumstances, then I'd be cool with that and say he tried. He has gone way and beyond the call of duty, and his performance against Russia just showed what a beast he is. He's definitely come with the intention of being the superstar that Wales want him to be.
Again, Wales are not winning this compeition. Against a better team, I don't see Bale being able to take them down all on his lonesome. Their group was one of the weakest at the Euros, so Wales have not yet been tested. They looked awesome against Russia and it had to be the most chances and shots on goal I've seen yet at the Euros. Flip side, it was against Russia who have beent he worst team I have seen at these Euros.
Without the manager employing the right tactics to make the team balanced and work as a system and create an environment for Bale to thrive, then Wales wouldn't even be in the position they're in right now.
Top scorer at the moment and leading his country. I pray he doesn't get injured and am eager to see how far this Welsh adventure can go as they wait to see who they face in the second round. HH
